Sonnet 2.V - Wind Whispers Awake
When whispers break cedars. (A Petrarchan rhyme-scheme sonnet.)
Article voiceover
When out of doors I go – escape – to feel the warmth of sun upon my skin, the hush upon my ears; inside my mind, a blush of fears, and hurts, the insecure’s appeal, reddens my sight and threatens to conceal the path, the air, the ground, waiting there just for me. Oh, if I would but waken and touch, and taste, breathe in to smell, and hear, and see. But I cannot come-to alone. Winds bend to whisper in my ears, quicken with song of Towhee, Cardinal, Carolina Wren. I blink and look beyond the mind’s loud throng to pink, papery Cherry blooms, and verdant Oak buds. I wake, and steady on the rock.
