Just Give It A Try
Why Substack when I already have a blog? And, what exactly will this publication be about?
I wrote on Substack in the past. I called it “Half Naked Thoughts”. It was supposed to be content that was more vulnerable than my usual content on my blog. It didn’t work out so well and I shut it down - just didn’t have time for it, honestly.
But here I am again. The main reason I’m here is because I follow some writers consistently. And since I am a writer and I see how Substack is working out for them and their readers, I’ve been tempted to get back in this space. I have been writing pretty consistently on my blog and I’ve got a few friends and readers over there. But, wordpress doesn’t seem to have a good pull for readers and writers these days. It’s too much about businesses and building your big amazing website. And, Substack seems to be very focused on reading and writing. It kind of feels like social media for writers and readers. On social media, like IG and FB, the audience is not there for the specific purpose of reading. And here on Substack, people are here, it seems, to read and write. They’re likely not here for a scroll through, pretty pictures, or videos, or to keep up with cousins, family, and old friends.
Anyway, it’s another platform with another audience and that’s really my biggest reason - to try to reach people whom my writing needs to reach - to reach readers.
I won’t be shutting down my wordpress blog and website. But, I won’t be doing anything different here than what I do on my blog. I mean, I think it will be a bit different, because I think here in this “Divine Nature” space, I want to exclusively post my current writing project ambition… which is to write a series of sonnets that focus on the nature of God in nature and… maybe life. But, it’s only an ambition at this point, and so who knows if it will amount to anything past the first sonnet that I wrote this past week. I didn’t want my doubts about my ambition to stop me from trying, though. So, here I am, and I’ll just see what comes of this.
Anyhow, this will not be any different from my blog, because what I post over there, in terms of “Divine Nature” sonnets, I will also post over here. So, it won’t be any extra writing work, but rather posting and publishing work, and so I should be able to keep up with this, as long as I keep up with writing sonnets.
Yeah, so, that’s that. If you would like to see how this sonnet project comes along, I would love to have you as a reader, and I welcome you!
I'm so glad you're writing here, Sara. Your clarity about your focus is encouraging to me. I pray that many come to know The Lord for the first time because they're read your hand. You remind me that we are indeed poetry of God.
